Hannukah in Reception

RJ were very lucky today as we had a lovely introduction to the story and traditions of Hanukkah.

We learnt about the miracle of the oil, which was only sufficient for one night, lasting for eight whole days. This meant the special light in the temple was kept burning, which was a very important symbol.

We also lit the Hanukkiah, and leant that the central candle is used to light the others.

We then listened to a song in Hebrew about Hannukah and were shown the traditional game of spinning the dreidl.

Many thanks for such an informative demonstration.
