Camden Flats Evacuation Info

Monday 10:30am

Advice from Camden Council:

–          Families are going to be reimbursed up to £200 per night but they are advised to keep all receipts and invoices for accommodation and food.

–          Families are able to return home to collect their belongings at any time between 9am – 8pm. They have 30mins to collect everything they need and will be escorted by a member of the council or a site worker. They do not need to book this in advance, they can just arrive at Chalcot at any time and collect some essentials.

–          Families are expected to be sent home within the next 2-4wks but the date is not set yet. There should be more clarification on this by Wednesday.

–          There is a dedicated team working on this who are on hand to answer any questions that residents may have; 0207 974 2300 (they can also help vulnerable residents and those with any accommodation issues), the email is; chalcotestate@camden.gov.uk

If families or the school source accommodation directly then they will be reimbursed by Camden but only up to £200 per night.

Sunday 7:00pm

We have lots of food and armies of helpers for tomorrow.    Camden have emailed thanks to everyone who is helping the efforts; those who stopped to play and entertain the children or visit the families.

We believe many of our families have accommodation or have return to the flats.  more will become clear tomorrow.

As well as food and drink tomorrow, we have toiletries, nappies etc for anyone affected.

We’ll make allowances this week for children who may be late.

And for our Muslim families, Eid Mubarak to you all.

Sunday 3:00

We have been working behind the scenes getting support and aid ready for tomorrow.  This has included many staff , parents and members of our community offering help and donations via text and through my email.  This is astonishing – well done.

Several of the staff went to visit our families in the Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre last night.  Mireille gave her number to individuals to use as necessary.

Our staff whatsapp group has been really helpful in identifying our families, signposting them to help and getting regular updates.

Sharon will be providing a special lunchtime library club for those who need some quiet space or time to talk.

See you all tomorrow.   Stay strong.

Robin
