Corridor for Nature

This week the children, across the school,  have been working on a project called
‘Corridor to Nature’ promoted  by the Canal & River Trust. The aim of the project was for the children to design a canal habitat within the school grounds. A selection of these designs – across the year groups – will be sent to enter a competition. The winning design will be built by a specially-commissioned landscape architect. This could be an exciting opportunity to improve our playground with the children to thank for. Fingers crossed.

This project has lent it self to many cross curricular subject.

For geography, it has allowed the children carry out fieldwork to observe, measure, record and present the human and physical features in the local area.

For science, children have researched local wildlife and gained a deeper understanding of canal habitats linking to our barge project.

Here are some pictures of the children of the children in Year 4 in action. More from other groups to come.
