Science Detectives find the difference

On a mission to find out whether plants really could grow in Max’s bedroom, we decided to explore what happened to plants when they grew. We explored words like long, longer than, longest and short, shorter than and shortest and realised that we could only use words like long to describe things that were horizontal. As most plants grow vertically, we decided we should use words like tall, taller than and tallest to describe them when we looked at them.

Using rulers, we measured plants, we sorted plants and then we used subtraction to find the difference in heights. Fantastic learning!
