Holy Week at St Mark’s Church

Today Year 1 visited St Mark’s Church to find out about Holy Week. Father William read a story describing Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey, on Palm Sunday. The crowd were very enthusiastic which made the people who did not like Jesus very angry. He was put on trial, found guilty and killed by crucifixion on Good Friday. This was a horrible way of being put to death and Jesus’s friends and followers were very sad. However, on the third day, they found his tomb empty and miraculously, Jesus had risen from the dead. This is why Easter is the most important Christian festival and why Easter Day, or Easter Sunday is celebrated by Christians world wide.
