POP ART!!!

Year 6 learnt about the art style called Pop Art – also known as ‘popular art’. We learnt about many Pop Art artists, like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, who have created many art works using bright, vibrant colours, repeated images and a comic style art. We used their artworks to inspire us to create our own art work linked to our Science Unit on the Human Body & a Healthy Diet. We started off our journey by creating comic style pop art using onomatopoeia words, then sketched detail drawings of fruit through direct observation and our last stage was learning about printing. We carved out our fruit and focused on creating texture by using different indentations and levels of carving. We then used acrylic to created repeated prints of our fruits designs in the style of Andy Warhol – what do you think of our final pieces of art? We hope you like them!
