Year 6 Printmaking

Can you imagine what it was like in the London Underground during the air raids of WW2, otherwise known as the Blitz? This is exactly what year 6 did during their recent art project.

They followed in the footsteps of artist Henry Moore who studied people sheltering in the underground. They were inspired by the mood and atmosphere he created in his drawings and prints.

The process they used is a type of relief printing using a polystyrene sheet.  The preparation included creating a word bank, drawing their ‘sleeping’ classmates and drawing a range of initial designs. They have experimented with both positive and negative prints and different coloured papers.
