Money, money, money!

Year 1 have been thinking about the importance of money, why and when we need it. We realised it was important to know what money looked like so tat we could pay for things using the correct coins and notes and also discovered that we might need to help Mr Patel (in the shop over the road) to spot a fraudulent bank note. It was time to get out our magnifying glasses and to look closely at all the features we could find!

Once we knew about notes, we decided to play a game. In teams we were all given a selection of coins. When the timer started, we had a minute to decide how to sort all of the coins and to work as a team to do it before the buzzer sounded. Year 1 played the game four times! Each tijme finding a new way of sorting the coins – by colour, size, shape, value and thickness. Well done!
