Celebrating cultural diversity in Ladybirds during Black History Month.

We have explored world maps and found out that we have friends and family all over the world! Many of our little Ladybirds shared with us that they had connections to Africa, we decided to investigate further…

We listened to African traditional tales and loved Anasi the spider which was our favorite. We enjoyed it so much we recreated the spider as a collage, just look at our amazing displays! We also had a go at weaving with paper and created our own artwork inspired by Alma Thomas, an African American abstract artist. Check out our astonishing Art gallery where you’ll find our finished master pieces. After all of this, we made our own necklaces; learnt the song Che Che Koolay then performed it to Phil in our special assembly. Want a sneak peak? Have a look at Tapestry as we’ve posted a video…enjoy!

Have a great half term break and we look forward to seeing all your smiley faces on the 2nd of November.

From all of the Ladybirds team.
